We will be posting results each day on the website, but also check out the MTB Orienteering NZ Facebook page, where people can share news, photo's, and stories of their MTBO efforts over the weekend.

The following embargo restrictions are additional to those previously published - all competitors must read these and ensure they are complied with:

• Middle Distance Champs - no person may access the North West and West section of Whakarewarewa for any reason, from midnight Friday 8th November (this area includes Redwoods, dog walking area, back of Scion, trails West of Turkish Delight and Challenge areas, and sports field and tracks leading to CBD - map detail here)
• Sprint Distance Champs - all competitors must be in the start arena before 2.15pm Saturday 9th November. Anyone failing to be in the start arena by this time will be disqualified. More information is on this, in the bulletin.
  
• Long Distance Champs - no person may access the Cougar Park MTB park for any reason from 8.00am Friday 8th November.

Courses are looking good and planning well underway. Now just have to cross fingers that the weather gods will be kind!

The following maps have previously been used for the areas we will be riding on in the 3 NZ Champs events:

• Tui Ridge
• Cougar Park
• Whakarewarewa
• Middle Earth

Note the embargoes which are in place on these maps are as follows:

• Tui Ridge (Sprint Champs) - no person may access the Tui Ridge area prior to the event

Plans are well underway for the NZ MTBO Champs, and we are working on updating maps ahead of the major planning work for each event.

Cougar Park in Tokoroa, venue for the NZ Champs in 2016, has changed significantly since then, with at least 50% of the forest felled with subsequent loss of tracks. Phil and Anne are busy working with Rudy, our local mapper, and have some great ideas on how to use the new and changed terrain. 

Whakarewarewa is the venue for the Middle distance map, and this will be one of the most dynamic and changing maps in NZ, if not the world! A recent update to the main map will be supplemented by more detailed map work this coming week, thanks to the help of Ryan Moore who is flying up from Christchurch to help with the mapping efforts. Peter has some interesting twists and innovations planned, that will give even those people used to the Whaka area, some new perspectives on the forest.

Tui Ridge, previously used as a middle distance map, is the venue for the sprint distance event, and Rob and Marquita have planning underway, despite currently being in Europe in a campervan somewhere! We have no doubt that the experience they are getting doing many MTBO events in Europe this year will result in some interesting courses!
